I give the owners credit: they've done a commendable job in copying some of the standard sets from the show:
While gentle acoustic music greeted us upon arrival, it didn't take long for some odd songs to pop into the playlist: Christmas carols. Early October (when we visited) is too early for even the greediest of retailers in the US to pump "The First Noel" through their loudspeakers. What we had was a classic case of inability to distinguish which pretty English language songs are year-round, and which ones are seasonal (case in point: this past March, we heard one restaurant play a song of cats meowing to the tune of "Silent Night." Yes, it was weird as it sounds). In short, we found ourselves befuddled when "I'll Be Home for Christmas" or "Merry Christmas Darling" found its way into an otherwise standard coffeehouse background playlist.
In addition to the invasion of ill-timed sugarcoated Christmas carols, the cafe offered some other smile worthy Chinese twists. Perhaps these quirks are from episodes that never made the final Friends cut? I hope so! :)
