As I am soaking in some Christmas tunes, I'm reflecting on some of my favorite spots around town. As you may know, Brian and I will actually be moving to Shanghai soon (hopefully by Christmas Day, but of course things here are never so transparent or easy). We're very excited that opportunities are finally coming into fruition in Shanghai, and look forward to new adventures in that oh-so-thrilling megapolis. In the meantime, however, we want to soak in some final experiences in Hangzhou. Hangzhou really is a beautiful place, and is great for strolling, meandering, and absorbing the paradox that is life in China.
I've blogged below about humorous coffee shops, as well as the beloved wet market right across the street from our apartment. Another favorite haunt of ours is a bamboo park about a mile away.
With a smile on my face as I remember our many walks through the bamboo, I'll conclude my thoughts for now. I'd actually planned on writing about a second spot we sometimes visit as well, but i may wait for another day for that one. As I'll explain soon, it's not so calming and doesn't always bring smiles to our faces! So for now, I'll stay in my mental happy place, swaying with the bamboo.
